Awards

We were pleased to be involved with the North Bexhill Access Road where Breheny Civil Engineering was awarded the Brassey Award (Kent and East Sussex) for Engineering Excellence for their work on this strategic link road, by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

Breheny Civil Engineering, who created the North Bexhill Access Road, won the award for the 2.4km single carriageway road which provides a strategic link for East Sussex residents and businesses, opening up new employment opportunities and the potential for over a thousand new homes for the area.  The judges were particularly impressed by the sustainability practices used and the innovation employed across the scheme.

The team fought off competition from a number of other projects across the region to take home the Brassey Award (Kent and East Sussex) for Engineering Excellence in association with Berryrange.

The award was presented by past ICE President Professor Jean Venables and Maggie Philbin, TV personality; President of the Institution of Engineering Designers and co-founder and CEO of TeenTech.

The awards are the premier showcase for engineering achievement in South East England with 14 shortlisted infrastructure and building projects for the annual awards, which took place at the Grand Brighton on Thursday 27 July 2017.

Nathan Ryder was our Surveyor for the scheme and he can be seen in the photographs collecting the award with the team.

ADCC were pleased to be able to support a local organisation, ‘Team Ben Hammond’ who are raising funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) following the tragic death of the 15 year old son of one of the Director’s friends. The funds will be used to fund the scanning of other local youngsters, to ensure that any heart abnormalities are identified early so that action can be taken.

We purchased a barrel of ale, which in turn was sold off at a charity Beer Festival in order to raise funds. Scott Parks assisted behind the bar, for part of the weekend!

‘I think a special mention has to go to Scott, Luke and the whole Breheny team (on site and in the office).  From the outset of their appointment the team have displayed a tremendously positive approach to the delivery within a severally limited time constraint whilst trying to juggle the vagaries of various parts of the local authority’.

And Gerry Newman, of the Luff Pension Fund added the following comment: ‘I reflect back upon the confidence you instilled in David and I when we first met in late August, which you and your team have now so thoroughly substantiated.  Please accept my most considerable gratitude’.

We’ve got a bit more work to do on this scheme, but it’s nice to receive thanks for our efforts.
